Grassroots Awards

Introduction

We organize lectures related to non-profit organizations and invite international experts to fundraising workshops. The Beautiful Foundation conducts a wide range of programs aimed at supporting the development and success of non-profit social workers. We value the activity and participation of grassroots organizations in society above and beyond their visible successes.

The Grassroots Awards program aims to promote the values and techniques of grassroots fundraising as well as enhance its capacity within society. It is the first of its kind in South Korea in that it provides an opportunity for a great number of grassroots organizations to showcase their projects and share their successes. The Beautiful Foundation presents awards to regional and non-profit organizations and grassroots campaigns in order to promote their participation in society. Furthermore, we aim to transcend the boundaries of conventional awards ceremonies to produce an educational event in which all can participate and learn from one another.

The Beautiful Foundation believes that partaking in grassroots fundraising is an act of communication and participation. We believe that by traveling together in small steps we will bring about the changes needed for a better tomorrow as we learn from one another. The Grassroots Awards were launched in 2008, and support the small but meaningful work of each unique step taken by organizations and individuals to make society a better place.

This year's awards were offered in order to support a number of grassroots organizations that are experiencing financial and communications difficulties and to help them sustain themselves independently and achieve growth. The 2008 Grassroots Fundraising Awards program was a banquet at which individuals gathered to share their passion and experience, to find solutions for common challenges and difficulties, and to encourage mutual growth and success. A total of 22 grassroots fundraising organizations participated in the competition and five organizations were named as finalists. The eventual winner of each award is listed below.
